Susan and I picked Rachel up at her baggage claim in Frankfurt and we hopped into a car. Well, actually, we first had to load the rental car which, with two large suitcases, a box containing a chair and a large basket, two carry-ons, various small purses and bags, and three people, proved a daunting task. At one point, Susan volunteered to stay at the Frankfurt Airport but we eventually got it all in.
We stopped first in Luxembourg. By "stopped", I mean we drove around town because we hadn't really done our research and didn't know what was important, significant, or historical. We saw many pretty buildings and got some Diet Coke and then moved on.
Next stop was Bastogne, just over the border into Belgium. Having watched many, many, many movies about World War II growing up, I geeked out a bit driving through the countryside where the Battle of the Bulge was fought. The area is beautiful, especially after being in the dry, desert landscape of Jordan for so long.
