In Which We Serve

One of the adorable Young Women in the Branch decided to "help plan and participate in a project to clean or beautify your community".  While there are lots of places in Amman that could qualify (pretty much every street corner), she decided to focus on the grounds around the church building, which have struggled in the transition from spring to summer.  We showed up with five girls, an assortment of gardening tools and gloves, and seven "low water" plants.

The girls pulled dead plants out of pots and re-potted with the new succulents.  They watered all the various potted plants around the grounds.  They pulled weeds.  They swept up dead leaves, trash and debris.  And lastly, they got into a minor mud fight.

The missionary couple were gracious enough to bring out some water, which was MUCH appreciated because it was about 93 degrees and we were all sweaty, hot and tired by the end.  As a reward, we headed from there over to the Embassy pool, where we pigged out on pizza, mozzarella sticks, and root beer.
